Your site is new, if you have submitted the URL to Google webmaster and submitted a sitemap, then your site will be indexed.
Your on page optimization needs to be good for Google to know where to categorize you.
Firstly (don't listen to the hype) the best available guide is "Googles Search Engine Optimization Guide"...
Wow.. who would of it :D
I assume you have based your site around a "primary keyword".
You'll need to ensure your site title and meta tag include your keyword. Include your keyword once for for your title and twice for your meta description.
To locate your site title and meta description.. WP Dashboard > Menu Bar > Settings > General Settings
Now, when you publish content you want to ensure the search engines find the content within hours!
Go to > codex.wordpress.org/Update_Services
Scroll down till you see the field titled "XML-RPC Ping Services"
Now copy all the URL's in that window..
Next navigate back to > WP dashboard > Menu Bar > Writing > Scroll down until you see the window titled "Update Services" (at the bottom).
Now paste in the URL's for the pinging servers you copied into that window and save changes.
Now the search engines should find your content easy.
Also try editing your default "uncategorized" category to include your primary keyword
Go to > WP dashboard > Menu Bar > Posts > Categories.. Then edit the default category.
SETTING A STRUCTURED URL
You'll want to set a structured URL. The wordpress default isn't very Search engine friendly.
Go to > WP dashboard > Menu Bar > Settings > Permalinks > select the "custom structure" tab
Input the following command > /%category%/%postname%/
Save changes..
Those are a few basic tweaks to help the search engines categorize your site..
