It's not going to automatically do it for you. Best thing I can recommend is participate in online communities, networking sites, forums. Participate of sites like squidoo, hubpages etc. Publish your articles on article directories. Submit to website to internet directories. This should get you enough backlinks to get a descent ranking. When it comes to seo optimization your website, just search for seo blogs in google and follow them. No need to waste your money on software like IBP

Richard J,

I've used IBP—and other SEO tools like WebCEO or WebPosition Gold, to name a few—to see what they're up to.

Stay away from the latest because it's one of the few that Google says you can get into troubles using it, as follows:

"Don't use unauthorized computer programs to submit pages, check rankings, etc. Such programs consume computing resources and violate our Terms of Service. Google does not recommend the use of products such as WebPosition Gold that send automatic or programmatic queries to Google."

—Source: http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=35769)

Note: Google talks about "unauthorized programs", so as far as the editor has a valid licence from Google to be able to embed such requests in its program, there's no violation of T&S. See what Google says about automated queries:

Regarding IBP from Axandra GmbH.

Like other SEO tools—the majority of them—, the secret relies more on the process they bring to your web practice than in a secret trick or recipe (e.g., cloaking, generating tons of pages, spamming directories).

Indeed, what they bring is the automation of the process that helps you get ideas on search terms; create, optimize, publish, reference, and maintain content pages; generate all kinds of reports on your site and competitors'.

From a webmaster standpoint—particularly for a rookie or non-Web-savvy programmer—IBP brings automation to daily tasks in an efficient, user-friendly manner.

I think a techie would better benefit by learning how to use his/her programming skills to come up with creative ways of promoting a site—nevertheless, using such tools could be a good starting point to understand the process, take a step back, and then fly on your own.

So such tools are mere tools—you cannot rely on them but on the mere YOU to get your pages rank first. Anyways it comes with a "top-10 or money back" guarantee. Price is $249 for the standard edition.

I have no relationship/affiliation whatsoever with IBP or any other tool—I've provided below a set of links pro and not so pro IBP and SEO tools.
