I want to increase page rank for my business website. I don't know more about seo so one of my friend told me that do link building it will help you to get a good page rank.

Don't focus so much on page rank. Page rank of your site is less important than page rank of the site you are linking to.



As others have said, there are many ways to get backlinks. It can be time consuming. Free directory submissions will give you some backlinks but most of them will either get rejected or will drop off over time.



Focus on quality, relevant, original content. If you can find relevant blogs to post on where you are adding value to the conversation, the owner of the blog typically would really appreciate it because someone else is doing work for them. You can usually post your link and you have a quality backlink that will more than likely be permanent. The problem most people encounter is this can be a very time consuming process.

Link Building Includes, Submitting your websites to Open Directories, Posting blogs that includes your website as your signature, writing your own blogs that have your website link or exchanging links with other web Masters.



The easiest way I have found is, submitting link to different web directories as it takes small amount of info but may take 7-14 days to approve your link as per their review policies. Many of them are FREE!!!



You can google free URL posting sites and build your link.

Link building means that you create backlinks, links on other web sites to your web site. For example, when you write article on any of article sites like Ezine Articles, Article Base, Article Alley, you can post your web site in your signature. That is one backlink.

If you comment on someone's blog post and put your web site in your signature, that is backlink.

If you create post in forum with your web site in signature, that is backlink.

Backlink creation is time consuming exercise, and it can be outsourced as well. Just make sure you are always providing good content and not spam
