An ongoing challenge for new websites is to get traffic ... if nobody sees the site, it can't be effective in getting its message accross. Aside from submitting to search engines, what do you do to get traffic ... quickly .. to your site?

There is no readymade solutions for getting the traffic. It depends on your website niche and utilizing the effective strategies from time to time. FOr eg. reciprocal links and 3 way links were considered the important factor at one time, but you may get penalized for that now. I can recommend the following steps based on our success.

Our site http://www.recycleinme.com ranks on first page for the keyword "scrap" which has 30,700,000 results. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=scr...

1. First and foremost step is to do the sitemaps for google, yahoo and submit them. Look for any crawl errors and fix them.

2. Submit the website into as many directories as possible. Importance should be provided to related niche directories and regional shopping directories if you are selling something online. This may take time but it is very effective.

You can find those directory by + directory, + add url, + add website,

+ submit site, + resources etc.

3. Some of the directories have a paid link option starting from $1 for a permanent link. You can buy some links depending on the quality of the directory.

4. Do a press release on launch of product/service and distribute it to as many PR sites as possible. There are some sites which charge a little amount to distribute your PR into the print media. Establish links from the keywords on the Press release to the website or related urls.

5. Write some informative and unique articles on the subject and distribute them to the article directories. Establish links from keywords to the home page or inner pages. A good article drives lot of traffic and increase the link juice. A quality article submitted by 2004 and published at ezinearticles.com by http://www.submitinme.com/article-submis... have received 100,000+ views and still counting. 60% of the visits would have converted into clicks to the website which means 60,000 targetted visitors from a single article. So it is important that you distribute quality articles periodically.

6. Social bookmarking- Bookmarking the urls with social media sites and making the link public.

7. Google Base - This is one source tapped by very few people. When you search for http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&sa=X&... You will find some results for the products submitted with google base(froogle). These results are taken from Google Base. http://base.google.com/ . You have to register there and upload the products there. There are options for multiple product uploading, image upload etc and it is free.

8. Video ads. Distributing inline ads with any related, interesting video.

9. Posting at related forums. Forums are a great way to promote the site. Many of the forums offer signature links, where you can have a link back to your website or any url. Also some of the forums allow direct links at forum posting.

10. Posting comments on blogs. Post comments on related blogs with backlinks to site

11. Yahoo answers- Yahoo have a no follow attribute so there will not be any link juice, but certainly there will be lot of traffic to site. All you have to do is find coffee related questions and answer them with a link back to your site.

12. Provide testimonials wherever possible.

13. Have your product / service reviewed at http://www.epinions.com/, http://www.consumersearch.com/, www.mouthshut.com, http://www.product-reviews.net/ etc.

14. Hire bloggers to start and write frequently on several blogs at different class c ips.

15. E-book syndicate - Create an e-book on the subject and distribute it for free from your site and other sites. Links have to be established from the ebook to the urls of your site.

16. Register with B2b sites, wholesale sites like www.alibaba.com etc if you have a product related site..

We have used the services of http://www.submitinme.com who provide the services mentioned here at very affordable rates.
