I need some SEO tips?

Hi!
I have an article indexing website, I have the title, a small image and a very short description about each article, the articles are in different categories.
I have a dynamically created page for each article with a link to the article.
I want to SEO optimize this page.

I`we modified the url using .htaccess to the following form:
/category/article-title-article-id/

I think the biggest problem is the length of the content: the title of the articles is around 50 characters and the description around 100 - 150 characters.

I don`t know what should I do to optimize the page.
Please tell me some tips
(I can`t show you the page, because I`we did not created it yet - I want to make it only when I know exactly how it will look).

The page will something like this (I`m planning to make it like this):
- the header of the website at the top with log in button and article submit button
- on the left side a sidebar with the available categories
- on the right side a sidebar with facebook fans, ads and news
- in the middle of the page the title and the description of the article with a big "go to article " button, some adsense ads and a facebook like, a tweet and a google +1 button

- I`m thinking to add in the middle of the page some links to related articles, too.

Thanks for any help or any good or crazy ideas - I want to hear them all!
Thanks!

Here is what I do and I believe that onsite optimization only counts for about 10% of our total ranking score. Because of this I do not spend a lot time on onsite SEO.

I want more from my title tag then for it to just include my keywords.

I want it to read like a call to action, have less than 70 characters and include and LSI keyword all while still including my main keyword (for that page) first.

I want more from my description tag then just a place to stick more keywords.

I want it to be short, include my main keywords and arouse enough curiosity that it alone can increase click through.

Yep, I use keyword tags because there are a lot more search engines then Google.

I want to keep it at a maximum of 7 keywords. Basically my main keywords along with a couple variations and of course every page has its own unique title, description and keyword tag.

I want all my images and graphics to include my keywords in the design of the site. Other words, label images as my keyword and not image header1.

I want to use header tags from h1 to h4 whenever they fit in and are needed.

I want every page to include at least one image and I want all my images saved and optimized for my main keywords for that page. The images are important because I can rank them easily for the image search and start driving traffic to my site almost immediately from the image searches.

So basically I want my keywords in:

_ the file name,

_ the title attribute,

_ the alt attribute

_ and in a link, if there is a link on the page.

I want all page names to include a keyword.

I want 500-1700 words of unique text on every page with my main keyword showing up in the first 50 words as well as in the middle of the page and at the end of the page. I also want LSI variation and to keep the keyword density at around about 1%.

If at all possible I want to use header tags but if not then at the very least I want the keywords to show up in bolded text at least once. I also want to include links to other pages on the site, so each page links to other pages using the content of the page for the link.

I want the footer to include my privacy policy and terms pages, and of course both will be named in such a way as to include my main keywords.

I do not want a home page link but rather a link with the anchor text of my main keyword that links back to the home page. I want footer links to my main keyword pages and I want links throughout the site that link to authority sites.

I also want my RSS feed to include my main keyword. And I want to include videos throughout the site. I will not be using nofollow tags as I will not be linking to any sites that I don’t trust. I want to set the site up to redirect to the url without the www.

And that’s normally about as far as I go with onsite SEO.

While the "Off-Page" optimization, mainly the external linking structure (that we'll discuss later) is what will give you your unfair advantage - the on-page SEO is a pre-requisite for the off-page to succeed.

In fact, if the on-page optimization is not done right, the best off-line search engine optimization in the world will not help you one bit.

1. Title Tag

This is an HTML tag that goes within the header section of the page. Title tag are the most important on-page factor for SEO.

Your keyword should be included within the title tag preferably close to the beginning of it. This is what Google shows on its search results page so you should also make it attractive so that it will entice searchers to click on it.

Don't just throw your keyword there, make sure that it is appealing and not longer than 65 characters.

2. Headline tags (H1, H2, H3)

Make sure your page includes one H1 tag with your keyword in it.

This headline tag shows Google that the text within it is important to the intended audience.

3. Meta Description Tag

While this does not have a bearing on the ranking of the page, Google still pulls the text of how it describes your page to other people from this tag.

Be sure to make it attractive so that more people will be clicking your page and not over do it - keep it below 156 characters.

4. Images

You should include at least 2 images in each page. Also add one video to one of the page in your site. You can simply embed a video from YouTube.

Make sure one of the images has your keyword in its ALT tag.

All other images need to also have ALT tags but should not include your keyword in them. Too many ALT tags with your keyword can lead to an over optimization penalty by Google.

5. Keyword Density

The exact keyword density is not important. Simply include about 3 instances of your keyword in each page, one of them should be close to the beginning of the article, one of them can be in Bold or Italics and that will do.

Do not be tempted to overdo it - that's a common newbie mistake.

6. Synonyms

You can include 2 or 3 synonyms to your page that does not include exact words from your keyword.

7. Article Topic

This is important. Your content should be on topic and match the niche and the keyword that is being targeted.

8. Outbound link

web design londonAdd one outbound link pointing to an authority site in your topic. This could be a Wikipedia page in similar topic to yours.

Place it at the bottom of the page, you can call it 'recommended source' or something similar. Do NOT add a 'no follow' tag to it, leave it in a natural stare.

9. Unique Content

The page should be unique and not a duplicated one. If you are using a spun article it should be at least 75% unique. It should also be making sense and has decent grammar.

Google may penalize pages that are of low quality.

10. Lenght of the articles

Each page should be between 500 and 1000 words long.

Be sure to vary the lenght of the articles in a site. Don't make all the articles exactly the same size.

Once your site is online and the on-page optimization is set, it's time to start creating links pointing to it.
