Linkedin.com- How to tell if you were declined?

Is there any way to tell if a sent invitation on LinkedIn.com was declined? For example, if I look in the sent invitation tab and an invitation gives me the option to "connect", does that mean my invite was declined? Is this something that automatically happens after an invite is unchecked or is it asking me connect again because the first time was declined?

In your INBOX, there is a tab that says "Sent Invitations". It will say if it has been accepted, declined, or pending. LinkedIn lets you send multiple invitations to the same person regardless of pending or declined status... i think every 48 hours or so.

On the sent invitation tab I see the "Join my network on linkedin" link under each contact - even the ones who have already accepted. I have some which have no replies, but to my knowledge none that have declined (only invite close work colleagues, so I really doubt any have declined).

If you've already sent an invitation, don't send it again. Assume they're either not active on linkedin (most check once a month at most, some don't check even that regularly) or they don't want to be connected to you. Regardless which it is, don't resend as it's pointless in both cases (if they didn't see your invite they'll still see it next time they're back - it doesn't expire)

I have sent LinkedIn invitations that are neither accepted nor declined (as far as I can tell). When I search on the profiles, I get the "Follow" option. Is this some way for the party to decline the invitation without actually saying so?
