I recently listed an item on Ebay, and it's barely getting any views. It has 5 views up to now, and I listed the item this afternoon, which is quite worrying. Could you guys please visit my listing here, and tell me what i should do to drive more traffic towards it and increase overall sales? The advice should be for general listings on Ebay as well as this one specific listing.

One reason is because this is not an item that people are anxiously awaiting the appearance of. This is the sort of thing that someone is going to search for once they need it. You need to have it listed for longer than 3 days. Another thing is that your feedback score is only 3. You need to make a few purchases to make it at least into the double digits. Triple digits would be even better.

I would also suggest you take the "free shipping" out of your title. Many items on ebay have free shipping these days. You should change your title to include a couple of extra words that people might be searching when they're looking for your product. If you can't think of a single extra word then by all means leave the "free shipping" in there. It does fill it out.

Edit ....

The new listing looks great! One more change I'm thinking you should make is add something at the top of your description that says how you can't descale the machine with vinegar. Because that's the first thing I thought when I went to your listing. So I clicked off of it and went to Google to find out. There I found that you can't use vinegar, but then I also got a preview of other sellers with the same product in my search result. Just a thought :)

Well, thats too long a listing time, doesnt that cost mor? Most people put something up for 5-7 days then list again if it doesnt sell. If you have 29 days, people think there is plenty of time to bid and they usually forget to come back and bid. The only people I have seen do that are big merchants who have a big quantity of one item so they always have one in stock.

With such a low priced item, you shouldnt have free shipping or you have no profit. If someone in Alaska buys it, you will pay a lot more than $6 to ship. Shipping UPS by Air is very expensive. How do you make any profit? You should ship by Priority or Parcel post depending on weight and distance and put the calculator into your listing. Let buyers decide how they want it shipped and how much they want to spend.

I wasnt sure what it was. It cleans coffee pots? Maybe you should have a simpler title like Espresso Machine Cleaner and leave the technical details for the listing. The words espresso machine will draw viewers if you put the listing under espresso machiens rather than Accessories. Thats not kosher but people do that.

Use larger type size under the word Description, make a longer description. You have a photo of a box in the gallery photo. Are you selling one packet of this stuff or a bunch of them? It never hurts to put Brand New in the title.

Buy a few more things to increase your feedback so buyers have confidence in you.

Generally you want to run your auctions for 7 days minimum, especially being a new seller - that will allow you item more time to get more views/watchers. Also use more keywords in your title, Im guessing a descaler is a cleaner? if so add cleaner and perhaps coffee to your title. You have to think of the average buyer, what are all the options they may put into search to find you item? the search query is not as smart as you may think - for instance if I am selling a purse, I would use purse, handbag, tote, bag etc in my title, if I just use Coach purse in my title the search results will only show buyers using only 'purse' in their search. I want to capture every buyer who may be using another term in the search words. In my link you can see an example of using keywords properly, Handbag, purse and tote;

Good luck - don't get discouraged, it does take time to build your feedback and 'learn' the system

and Yahoo Answers isn't the way to increase those "views" either. Frankly.... It's just a Wallet and in the future.... choose a less dilapidated couch to put it on when you take a picture of it. Scratched up old leather couch background doesn't improve a thing.
