Why aren't I getting traffic to my website, even though on top of google?

I've made it to the 4-6 position on google for search terms that get 100,000 searches a month in google. Even my domain is a keyword that gets 60,000 searches a month and I'm on top of google for that. I only get about 6 visitors per day?? WHAT!?! How could it be that I'm getting like .0004% (or something like that) of the traffic? Shouldnt I be getting a lot more than that, I mean the title is relavant and its the fourth listing. Why isn't anyone clikcing on my site? Its been like this for 2 weeks. The description isnt the best and I changed it but it needs to be reindexed, but that shouldnt be a huge deal. Why arent I getting my traffic? I should at least have 100 ppl per day. My site can hold 10GB bandwidth a month....is that enough you think? Is that the problem? I don't know what this means but on google next to my listing it says 27kb....if that means anything. So whats going on? I made a huge achievment by getting to the top but I'm not getting any traffic, how come? I'm not even getting .05%, this doesn;t add up...what do you think? thanks and please help me out! =)

hi friend, to promote a site you need a lot of sites to advertise and drive traffic to it! just relying on one is a waste of precious time and money!

http://www.getleads4free.com/?ref=4858 (you can get email ids to build your list of subscribers)

http://mydlb.com/index.php?referid=maddy... (good one)

http://ViralURL.com/3045 ( good to promote)

http://www.listjumper.com/jump/?s=6039( personal favorite)

http://adsvert.com/?uid=maddy3045

last two you can actually earn credits easily and email people under you or email to down line below you but they are real people not wasted mails..(major advantage)

next you can promote your site at social networks like orkut, face book etc

you can put pay per click at many sites.. (a little investment needed for this)

you can build a squeeze page to build your list then start promoting your site..

advertise in forums like this one for free..

easiest of all tell friends!! :-)

submit to search engines and directories..

have a newsletter so u can subscribe to ur clients..

with all this you can increase it to 1000's per day!

hope this little info helps you..

thank you :-)

Your bandwidth isn't a problem so don't worry about that.

There are two kinds of search results.

A broad search count result and an exact phrase search count result.

For example if you search for the phrase - old fashioned doughnuts - the broad search count result will be 437,000.

If you do an exact search for "old fashioned doughnuts" then the result will be 2,570.

Its the second result that display the competing websites for the search phrase.

In which category are you?

Then driving traffic to your site is your next task.

Here http://internetmarketingsoftware.ca/traffic/traffic-propagation-multiplication-generation-explosion/ is a series of questions that might interest you. Also a free download about getting traffic you might find worthwhile exploring - just a thought.

They also write about how to create zero cost traffic.

Try to get more traffic. Some of the ways you can advertise your website and increase traffic are:

1. Post an article about your website on related blogs and get free back links

2. Submitting to directories

3. Free classifieds

4. Forums

Agree that it is strange to have top position in the SERPs and not get any significant traffic, especially when it is for a frequently searched for term

First make sure your site has not been hijacked i.e someone is redirecting all your traffic to their own site.

Also look at your metatag and title to make sure that it is not putting people off clicking on your site

But i do agree, very strange
