For better optimization of your website in search engines and user experience as well, one of the major factor that plays an important role is Website’s load time. It is a good idea to have the page load within 2-3 seconds.

Apart from this there is one more parameter to check your website’s speed score and this is preferred by google too. You can use this url https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/ to check the page load score. The preferred page load score according to this website is 80 out of 100.

Anything more than 5 seconds, and you're losing visitors (according to Amazon). Google doesn't have a published set time for this. If you're building with Wordpress, make sure you're using WP-Super-Cache on your site. That helps load time a lot.

It's depend on your website development, try to get less time for load because if your website take time to load then your user may drop you that will increase your website bounce rate.

I recall one study cited in a seminar, in which a site with 5 second load time had a 20% Bounce Rate, lowering load time to 1/2 second dropped bounce rates to 5% (Bounces are people who never venture beyond the home page, perhaps exiting during loading)

Google's own internal load speed design specs call for 1/2 sec load times.

CMS platforms like Wordpress that rely heavily on databases tend to load a bit more slowly, there are dedicated Wordpress hosting services with guaranteed performance that optimize their mySQL data servers.
