Question:
For SEO, when I add new content, is it better to create a new page each time or just add to an existing one?

I have a "news" channel on my homepage and I try to add 3-5 new stories about my product and industry each month for SEO, each page focusing on a particular keyword. I have been creating new pages, so new url with keyword in, metatitle etc. What I am wondering is, is it better to create a whole new page for each story I add, or is it OK to add to a related existing page (and just add my new content underneath on an already exisiting page that alerady contents content relevant to the new info I want to add)? Does increasing the number of pages you have make a big difference to SEO? Or is it just the content that is important to increase?
Many thanks

Hi

Why you don't create own page or category for stories only which are located in your product page and add there all stories. I will give an example.

Your product address is www.mysite.com/myproduct

If you decide to make story page then you could make this kind of webpage www.mysite.com/myproduct/stories

Or if you decide to make story category which is under your product root it would be www.mysite.com/myproduct/stories/storyname

You will categorize them to be search engine and user friendly. Hope this helps :)

The short and simple answer: Create a new page each time

A large number of pages is very helpful in SEO, especially when they have unique and relevant content

The key would be to try to get each page to rank for a particular set of high value keywords. Pages that are not yet ranking might benefit from additional content so in those cases it might be good to add content to the existing pages. For keywords you have not yet targeted, create new pages and try to get those to rank. Don't forget backlink building while you are creating new content.

You should create a single page and then start posting contents there.

If you are talking about different-2 types of things then you can try different page.

For example, If you want to write on e-mail marketing then start writing only on related topics but if you want to post a content related to software development then you should try a different page or a new blog.

This would only end up hurting SEO and maybe blacklisting you specially now with the new updates in Google algorithm and human checking in place you run the risk of completely loosing your websites credibility and ranking. Even before this technique didn't really help in any way and now it would definitely end up raising a red flag. Hal Smith URLdreamer Consultant

If you are having a news channel and you are updating news on your page then you need not to add more pages. Simply replace existing content with latest news as no one wants to read old news.
